about
December 18th 2008: Hope riseandshine.tv/2008/12/18/hope/

Hope, the three-legged cat from Cincinatti, disappeared for 7 weeks, despite Norma Meece spending $500 and employing a pet detective. The moving story of Hope the gambling cat was born.

The Rise and Shine audience wondered what Hope would have been doing in that 7 weeks - and why did he return home when he did?

It was decided that Hope had been in search of a better life, had found both love and wealth, that he had fallen in with a bad Las Vegas crowd, lost everything and finally returned home to Norma.
lyrics
Sad and hopeless Norma Meece
She was waiting seven long weeks
The face of Hope on every post
Reminding her of what's been lost...

And many miles from Cincinatti
A big adventure for a little cat, he
Journeys on, towards the sun
Three good legs and missing one

Sometimes you gotta leave home
With somebody, or on your own
And follow wherever the road goes
Takes you on to the Great Unknown

Norma hires a pet detective
But he's simply ineffective
And Las Vegas, the destination
Hope is restored. Anticipation..
Oh the gambling cat
Buys his way in
He's hungry now and looking thin
But Lady Fate waits in the wings
his Ace of Hearts he has to win...

Sometimes you risk everything
Sometimes you lose until you win
You follow whereveryour heart goes
Leads you on to the Great Unknown

Dizzy days and endless nights
Sprinkle shines Las Vegas lights
And Hope keeps winning
Fighting, sinning,
Until he hears the Fat Cat singing
All washed up, Hope's stony broke
His love no more, no coat to stroke
He hits the road to Cincinatti
He's safe and bound, and Norma's happy

Sometimes you gotta go home
To somebody all alone
And leave behind your broken dreams
Start your life once again...
