Manuel Uribe at 800 pounds is one of the heaviest men in the world. He's certainly the heaviest man in Mexico, and this song tells the story of Manuel attempting a date with his girlfriend - easier said than done, when you are relying on a fork-lift truck and the strength of your family to get you to the restaurant.
The story has a good resolution - he did eventually shed several stone and months later, fulfilled his romantic inclinations.
lyrics
Manuel found a pretty señorita
After he cut back on the tortilla
He ate a lot of protein
Was as slender as he'd ever been
440 pounds lighter
Still heavy but utterly delighted
A picnic he has planned
With his beautiful girlfriend
A forklift arrived -
With his heart full of love,
His mother, his sister, his friends gave a shove
and his big iron bed was lifted up high,
and off to the picnic went Manuel Uribe - hey!
The people wanted to be near him
Children coming out to cheer him
As Manuel passed by
underneath the Mexican sky...
In San Nicholas de las Garza
snacking on chile con carne
His truck hit the overpass
His happiness it could not last
With press and newspapers,
and heart full of love
But falling blood-pressure,
the blow from above
So back home he goes in his big iron bed
- "I'll see my girlfriend on my birthday instead!"
